Nate Staniforth is a Magician, Writer, and Traveler and we are honored to tell some of his story on our podcast DesignOf. For over a decade, Nate Staniforth has toured the US college circuit as one of the busiest working magicians in the country and he hosted Breaking Magic on the Discovery Channel. He’s given a TEDx Talk, lectured at the world-famous Oxford Union, and in 2018 the Harry Potter-famed Bloomsbury Publishing will release Nate’s memoir in bookstores worldwide. Here is Real Magic follows Nate’s evolution from obsessed wunderkind to disillusioned wanderer, and tells the story of his rediscovery of astonishment—and the importance of wonder in everyday life—during a trip to the India, where he infiltrated a 3,000-year-old clan of street magicians. Justin and guest host, Bob Davidson, traveled to Nate’s hometown in Iowa City, Iowa to learn more about this student of wonder and the lengths he goes for a moment of amazement.
Our Creative Director, Justin Ahrens, presented at #HOWLive 2017 in Chicago this year. His topic focused on how doing “Good” as a creative or company can not only attract the right people to work for you and with you, but also great clients. Ultimately, having “Good” as part of your internal DNA makes an impact on how you treat your team, your collaborators, your clients, and how you genuinely market yourself. Not to mention it is something to be genuinely proud of. Utilizing authentic goodness (not simply leading with a cause, but truly owning the driving force behind your decision to align with this perspective) is a strong advantage for your business. By speaking of yourself in terms of goodness, you are able to align yourself with consumers and clients who value that goodness.
All that leads to the question: Do you consider yourself a good company? Well, it’s time to start talking about it and we believe you will reap the benefits. Feel free to view the presentation on Slide Share here and get in touch if you represent an organization that values goodness in a creative partner.
World Changing Ideas is one of Fast Company’s major annual awards programs and is focused on social good, seeking to elevate finished products and brave concepts that make the world better. A panel of judges from across sectors choose winners and finalists based on feasibility and the potential for impact. With a goal of awarding ingenuity and fostering innovation, Fast Company draws attention to ideas with great potential and helps them expand their reach to inspire more people to start work on solving the problems that affect us all.
Rule29’s design for good event Wheels4Water is one of the projects that was picked from over 1,200 entries. “Fast Company has always insisted that being a force for good has to be a key element for any business,” says Fast Company editor and managing director Robert Safian. “These World Changing Idea award winners show how organizations around the world are embracing the ideals of creativity and innovation to create enormous impact.” Rule29 is thankful to be one of the inaugural world changing idea finalists! #WCIAwards
